Post Hospitalization School Re-entry Study

Being a parent can be scary. Being a parent when accidents happen can be even scarier. As parents, we want our children to succeed. Especially when to comes to school. Although it can be a parent's worst fear, sometimes children end up in the hospital. We in the MAPP lab recognize how difficult this can be for children and their families. We are interested in how research can help children successfully re-integrate into the school system following hospitalization. Specially, we are interested in how a child's personality can help or hurt them when it comes time to go back to school. Furthermore, we want to understand how events like this impact the family. Knowing this can help us better understand how we can assist a smooth, successful transition back to school after setbacks such as a hospitalization.
